        "content": "<p>The Class IIA Karawang Prison in Karawang Regency, West Java, has\ndestroyed a number of prohibited items seized during searches conducted\nin inmate blocks over the past several months.<\/p>\n<p>The Head of Karawang Class IIA Prison, Ma\u2019ruf Prasetyo Hadianto,\nstated in Karawang on Tuesday that the prohibited items destroyed were\nthe results of routine raids carried out during the period of May to\nAugust 202lar.<\/p>\n<p>He explained that these routine raids and searches of inmate blocks\nare a strategic step towards realising a \u2018Zero Halinar\u2019 area (referring\nto the elimination of Handphones, Illegal Levies, and Narcotics). This\nalso serves as a direct implementation of the Action Programme by the\nMinister of Immigration and Correctional Services of the Republic of\nIndonesia to maintain order within prisons.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTherefore, the evidence being destroyed is the result of seizures\nfrom a series of strict search activities in the inmate residential\nblocks conducted between May and August 2024,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>During this four-month period, officers secured various prohibited\nitems, including 18 smartphones, 12 feature phones, several other\nelectronic devices, and various improvised sharp weapons.<\/p>\n<p>It was noted that the destruction process was carried out openly,\nfirmly, and thoroughly to ensure that the seized items could no longer\nbe misused.<\/p>\n<p>All pieces of evidence were executed using multi-layered destruction\nmethods, ranging from being smashed with hammers and burnt to being\nsubmerged in water. These steps were taken to ensure that all critical\ncomponents, particularly in communication devices and electronics, are\npermanently damaged and rendered non-functional.<\/p>\n<p>The destruction activity was led directly by the Head of Karawang\nClass IIA Prison and witnessed by law enforcement officials from various\nagencies, including personnel from the Karawang Regional Police, the\n0604\/Karawang Military Command, the West Java Regional Police Brimob,\nand the Karawang National Narcotics Agency (BNNK).<\/p>",
