The Karawang Regency Government (Pemkab) in West Java has assured\nthat the implementation of the work-from-home (WFH) policy for civil\nservants (ASN) will proceed under strict supervision. This policy\nfollows up on the central government\u2019s initiative through the Ministry\nof Home Affairs, which schedules WFH for one day per week starting April\n2026.<\/p>\n
The Secretary of the Regional Government (Sekda) of Karawang, Asep\nAang Rahmatullah, emphasised that in accordance with the instructions of\nRegent Aep Syaepuloh, all ASN undertaking WFH are required to perform\nperiodic attendance and report work results in real-time.<\/p>\n
\u201cWFH does not mean taking it easy. ASN must still work and be\nsupervised. There is attendance, there are performance reports,\neverything is measured through digital systems,\u201d Asep Aang stressed in\nKarawang on Wednesday (1\/4).<\/p>\n
Digitalisation of Supervision<\/p>\n
Asep explained that supervision is conducted through the SIM ASN and\nSIAP applications, integrated with GPS technology. This system requires\nASN to perform attendance using location coordinates and selfies.\nAdditionally, every employee must prepare a daily work plan before\nstarting WFH.<\/p>\n
This policy is part of the national energy efficiency strategy to\nrespond to global conditions, particularly the conservation of fuel oil\n(BBM). As a supporting measure, Pemkab Karawang is also promoting an\nenvironmentally friendly mobility scheme.<\/p>\n
ASN living within a maximum radius of 5 kilometres from the office\nare encouraged to use bicycles for commuting on effective workdays. \u201cIf\nit\u2019s close, they can use bicycles. There are many benefits, besides\nbeing healthy, it also saves BBM,\u201d Asep clarified.<\/p>\n
Budget Efficiency and Vehicle Pool<\/p>\n
For motor vehicle users, Asep highlighted the significant difference\nin energy consumption. He gave an example that using a motorcycle only\nrequires about 1 litre of BBM per day, while a car reaches 5 litres. \u201cIf\na motorcycle is sufficient with 1 litre per day, whereas a car can be 5\nlitres. This can support the BBM savings target of around 20 percent,\u201d\nhe added.<\/p>\n
As a concrete step, Regent Aep has instructed that official vehicles\nbe withdrawn and centralised at the Galeri Nyi Pager Asih as a storage\npool during periods without out-of-town duties or urgent activities.<\/p>\n
Pemkab Karawang projects that this efficiency policy can reduce BBM\nconsumption by up to 20%, with an estimated budget saving of Rp1 billion\nthroughout April 2026.<\/p>\n
Although implementing remote work patterns through the\nElectronic-Based Government System (SPBE), Pemkab guarantees that public\nservices will not be disrupted. Vital sectors such as health, disaster\nmanagement, transportation, and security will continue to operate\nnormally.<\/p>\n
