The Jakarta Provincial Government has suspended the Kalisari
Subdistrict Head in East Jakarta after an audit by the Inspectorate
uncovered suspected manipulation in handling citizen complaints through
the JAKI (Jakarta Kini) app using imitation reasoning or artificial
intelligence (AI). Jakarta Provincial Inspector Dhany Sukma stated that
the examination was conducted systematically in accordance with
government internal audit standards. “The results of this examination
serve as the basis for corrective actions and strengthening
supervision,” he said in an official statement, quoted on Wednesday, 8
April 2026. This case emerged after a post circulated regarding a report
of illegal parking via the JAKI app that was declared resolved. However,
the report was accompanied by photos suspected to be the result of
artificial intelligence processing. Based on the audit results, the
Inspectorate recommended to the East Jakarta Mayor to suspend Siti Nur
Hasanah from her position as Kalisari Subdistrict Head. In addition, two
subdistrict officials—the Head of the Government Section and the Head of
the Economy and Development Section—were given disciplinary sanctions
and guidance. Sanctions were also imposed on three Public Facilities and
Infrastructure Handling (PPSU) officers proven to be involved. They will
face actions in accordance with the provisions in their work contracts.
Dhany stated that these steps are part of the bureaucratic reform
efforts within the DKI Provincial Government. The local government, he
said, will strengthen supervision and improve accountability in the
public complaint handling system. “This is not just about sanctions, but
also about comprehensive system improvements so that similar incidents
do not recur,” said Dhany. Previously, a social media post went viral
showing PPSU officers allegedly using AI in responding to illegal
parking reports on Jalan Damai, Kalisari Subdistrict, Pasar Rebo, East
Jakarta. In the post, officers in orange uniforms were seen handling the
location, but the visuals were suspected to have been processed. Changes
were evident from the officers’ attributes to the disappearance of
several vehicles in the processed image. The differences between the
actual conditions and the visuals triggered criticism from netizens who
viewed the action as a form of manipulation and not reflective of the
field situation.
",
