The Nusantara Explorer train will officially begin commercial\noperations on 28 September, with a capacity of 36 passengers per unit,\naccording to the President Director of PT Kereta Api Indonesia\n(Persero), Bobby Rasyidin.<\/p>\n
Speaking in Jakarta during a hearing with Commission VI of the\nIndonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) on Wednesday, Bobby stated\nthat the Nusantara Explorer was developed based on an idea from the\nPresident of the Republic of Singapore, Prabowo Subianto. The initiative\nseeks to combine Indonesia\u2019s natural tourism potential with local\nhospitality, local wisdom, and Indonesian culture through rail\ntravel.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are presenting hospitality, Indonesia\u2019s heritage, Indonesia\u2019s\nbeautiful nature, and heritage buildings within our stations,\u201d he\nsaid.<\/p>\n
Bobby explained that the Nusantara Explorer can transport 36\npassengers when not coupled with Panoramic carriages. However, when\nattached to two Panoramic carriages, the capacity increases by 76,\nbringing the total number of passengers to 112.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Nusantara Explorer presents a new face for rail travel to enjoy\nthe natural beauty and diversity of the Archipelago. This train carries\n36 passengers without being coupled with the Panoramic cars,\u201d he\nadded.<\/p>\n
He noted that during its development, the Nusantara Explorer\nunderwent refinement stages based on feedback received after its\nprevious use by the President of the Republic of Indonesia.<\/p>\n
The Nusantara Explorer is the result of interior modifications of\nLuxury Sleeper carriages at the Surabaya Gubeng Balai Yasa workshop. The\ntrain features several service areas with distinct characters, including\nSignature Class, Advance Class, Compact Class, a Lounge, a Grand\nRestaurant, and Kitchen & Crew areas.<\/p>\n
