PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) is enhancing safety and reliability at LRT Jabodebek stations through upgrades to lighting, lifts, escalators, and waterproofing. The improvements come as ridership surged to over 13.2 million in the first five months of 2026, up from 10.7 million in the same period last year. The programme aims to ensure seamless, safe, and comfortable journeys within the integrated urban transport ecosystem.

KAI continues to strengthen the reliability and safety of facilities
at various LRT Jabodebek stations to ensure users experience a safe,
comfortable, and reliable journey from the moment they enter the station
area until they reach their final destination. Facility improvements are
carried out through the optimisation of lighting systems, the
rejuvenation of lifts and escalators, and the maintenance of station
infrastructure that supports the smooth daily mobility of the
public.

Throughout 2026, a number of facility enhancement works have been
undertaken at several stations. These works include the addition and
optimisation of lighting systems on the pedestrian bridge (JPO) at
Pancoran Station, the entrance area and JPO at Kuningan Station, the JPO
area and lift at Rasuna Said Station, as well as the addition of air
conditioning units in the concourse area of Dukuh Atas Station.

In addition, KAI has implemented a rejuvenation and reliability
improvement programme for lifts and escalators at a number of stations,
including Jatimulya, Bekasi Barat, Jatibening Baru, and Cikunir 1. These
works involve the replacement of various main components to maintain the
safety, comfort, and reliability of the facilities used by the public
every day. Meanwhile, corrective waterproofing maintenance on roofs has
also been carried out at all LRT Jabodebek stations to keep facilities
in optimal condition and provide comfort for users in various weather
conditions.

Manager of Public Relations for LRT Jabodebek, Radhitya Mardika,
stated that improving station facilities is an important part of
maintaining the quality of safe and integrated public transport
services. “Safety is the main foundation of public transport services.
Therefore, every maintenance and facility improvement programme we carry
out always prioritises safety aspects for both users and officers, so
that users can carry out their activities safely and comfortably from
the station area to their destination,” said Radhitya.

These facility improvement efforts are in line with the continued
growth in the number of LRT Jabodebek users. In the January–May 2025
period, LRT Jabodebek served 10,727,798 users. Meanwhile, in the same
period in 2026, it served 13,211,856 users. The increase in users is
also reflected in the average number of weekday users, which rose from
around 98,000 users in the January–May 2025 period to around 120,000
users in the same period in 2026. This condition shows the increasingly
significant role of LRT Jabodebek in supporting the mobility of the
Jabodetabek community.

He said that the availability of reliable facilities is an important
factor in supporting the user travel experience, especially amid the
community’s growing need for integrated and comfortable public
transport. “LRT Jabodebek is part of the urban transport ecosystem that
is connected to various other modes of transport. Therefore, facility
improvements continue to be made so that users can switch modes more
safely, comfortably, and smoothly. Ultimately, all these efforts are
aimed at providing an increasingly better travel experience for the
community,” he added.

KAI will continue to carry out maintenance and improvement of station
facilities as part of its efforts to provide safe, comfortable, and
integrated public transport services for the Jabodetabek community.
",
