PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) Operational Area 5 Purwokerto has\nassessed that a number of events in the Purwokerto area, Banyumas\nRegency, Central Java, have contributed to increased public mobility\ntowards the city.<\/p>\n
Public Relations Manager of PT KAI Operational Area 5 Purwokerto, M\nAs\u2019ad Habibuddin, said in Purwokerto on Sunday that this was reflected\nin the number of passengers arriving at Purwokerto Station on Saturday\n(22\/8), which reached 6,870 people.<\/p>\n
According to him, this figure represents an increase of around 32\npercent compared with the daily average of passenger arrivals during\nAugust 2026 of 5,190 passengers.<\/p>\n
In addition, he said, the increase in arrivals shows that rail has\nbecome one of the public\u2019s transport options for attending various\nevents in Purwokerto and its surroundings.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are pleased to be able to support easier public access to\nPurwokerto with safe and comfortable journeys,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
According to him, a number of events taking place over the weekend\nwere among the factors driving the increase in public mobility towards\nPurwokerto.<\/p>\n
He cited the 2026 Banyumas Kentongan Festival, held on Saturday\n(22\/8) evening, as not only a space for preserving local arts and\nculture but also a tourist attraction drawing interest from people\nacross various regions.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, the Purwokerto City Run 2026, held on Sunday (23\/8)\nmorning, he said, also served as an attraction for runners from various\nregions to come to Banyumas.<\/p>\n
\u201cBased on data from KAI Operational Area 5 Purwokerto, the majority\nof passengers arriving at Purwokerto Station on Saturday (22\/8) came\nfrom a number of major cities on Java, including Jakarta, Yogyakarta,\nand various other areas,\u201d he explained.<\/p>\n
Furthermore, he said KAI Operational Area 5 Purwokerto continues to\nsupport ease of mobility for people wishing to attend various events or\nundertake tourism and other travel activities in the Purwokerto area and\nits surroundings.<\/p>\n
In addition to these events, he said, the national holiday for the\nProphet Muhammad\u2019s birthday on Tuesday (25\/8) also has the potential to\nincrease public mobility.<\/p>\n
According to him, this is because some people are taking leave on\nMonday (24\/8), potentially creating a long holiday period that\nencourages increased rail travel.<\/p>\n
