PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) or KAI has opened assistance posts
for handling the train accident incident at two locations, namely Bekasi
Timur Station (Bekasi City) and Gambir Station (Central Jakarta). KAI’s
Deputy Director of Corporate Communications, Anne Purba, stated that the
presence of these posts serves as a facility for victims’ families to
obtain direct information and also to collect the victims’ belongings.
“As per the Director’s instructions earlier, the posts for information
related to today’s incident will be open for 14 days at two places,
Gambir Station and Bekasi Timur Station,” said Anne Purba at Bekasi
Timur Station, West Java, on Tuesday (28/4/2026). She conveyed that KAI,
together with several parties, has completed the evacuation process. A
total of 84 victims have been taken to nine hospitals for immediate
medical treatment. “We are deeply saddened by this incident,” said Anne.
She stated that the electric rail train (KRL) commuter line on the
Jakarta-Bekasi route is currently only operating up to Bekasi Station.
Meanwhile, Bekasi Timur Station to Cikarang Station remains temporarily
inoperable. “At this time, long-distance trains from Jakarta are still
undergoing operational adjustments because we prioritised customer
handling earlier,” Anne added. KAI once again apologised for the
inconvenience. Anne said that her side is striving to complete the
handling so that the route from Bekasi Timur Station to Cikarang Station
can return to normal function. “To the Cikarang Commuter Line users, we
deeply apologise. Today will certainly experience many crowding issues
because the route only goes to Bekasi Station. But we are endeavouring
to resolve it today so that tomorrow it can operate normally again,”
Anne concluded.
",
