KAI Logistics (Kalog), a state-owned enterprise, is preparing 400 tonnes of transport capacity to handle the anticipated surge in parcel deliveries during the peak Ramadan and Eid season, expected in the third week of Ramadan. The company has implemented several operational strengthening measures, including fleet optimisation and enhanced safety protocols, while maintaining limited services with 20 tonnes capacity on 18 March. Early data shows increasing trends in motorcycle shipments (up 5% week-on-week) and pet transport, with the company urging the public to plan shipments in advance to ensure timely delivery.

In anticipation of increased parcel distribution needs from both
households and businesses ahead of the peak delivery period expected in
the third week of Ramadan, KAI Logistics has implemented various
operational strengthening measures to ensure safe, smooth and timely
delivery whilst managing rising demand volumes.

“Each year, the Eid season becomes one of the periods with quite
significant increases in logistics activity. The public’s need to send
parcels to their hometowns, including personal vehicles such as
motorcycles and pets, as well as increased distribution of consumer
goods, all drive increased shipping volumes during this period,” said VP
of Corporate Secretary KAI Logistics (Kalog), Dwi Wulandari, on Saturday
(14 March).

According to Dwi, operationally, the company has implemented several
strategic measures, ranging from inspection of facilities and
operational readiness, service readiness inspections, optimisation of
loading and unloading processes, and increased utilisation of the
trucking fleet. These include strengthening safety aspects and
coordination at service points, and increasing readiness of operational
resources. These measures are implemented to ensure all distribution
processes run smoothly despite increased shipping volumes.

“In terms of capacity, we are providing approximately 400 tonnes for
round-trip journeys to support logistics during the Eid transportation
period. The company is optimistic that with this capacity, we can still
serve increased and surging demand for parcel delivery,” she
explained.

It should be noted that all deliveries to certain destinations will
cease operations from Wednesday (18 March). Kalog Express services will
resume operations on 25 March 2026. Additionally, the company is making
operational adjustments to maintain transport capacity availability
during high-demand periods.

On Wednesday (18 March), Kalog will continue operating delivery
services with capacity of up to 20 tonnes through the Blambangan Express
and Sri Tanjung trains. This policy is implemented as a precautionary
step to maintain distribution smooth operation and ensure the public’s
delivery needs continue to be served amid increased demand.

“In addition to strengthening operational readiness, we also urge the
public to plan parcel deliveries earlier to avoid congestion as we
approach peak delivery period. Earlier planning is expected to help the
public obtain more optimal services whilst ensuring parcels arrive on
time at their destination cities,” she said.

Dwi added that the company has noted trends of increased deliveries
since entering the second week of Ramadan. One service experiencing
growth is motorcycle shipments, with 2,300 units distributed,
representing approximately a 5% increase compared to the first week of
Ramadan, which reached 2,217 units.

This increase is expected to continue through the peak delivery
period ahead of Eid. Pet transport has also shown increasing trends with
similar growth, with 9,732 pets distributed since the beginning of
Ramadan through 9 March 2026.

“We remain committed to providing safe and reliable logistics
services to the public during the Ramadan and Eid periods. Support from
our railway-based distribution network is one of the advantages in
maintaining reliable delivery, particularly in responding to increased
logistics needs that typically occur during the homecoming period,” she
added.
",
