        "content": "<p>PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) or KAI recorded the peak of the\n2026 Lebaran return flow with a significant surge in passenger volume.\nKAI\u2019s Deputy Corporate Communications President Anne Purba stated that\nthe certainty of travel time makes trains the preferred choice amid high\npublic mobility during the Eid al-Fitr holiday period. \u201cOver four\nconsecutive days of the return flow, passenger volume was at the highest\nlevel during the 2026 Lebaran period with occupancy exceeding 140\npercent,\u201d said Anne Purba in a written statement in Jakarta on Friday\n(27\/3\/2026). On Sunday (22\/3\/2026), 242,810 passengers were recorded\n(150.7 percent). This increased on Monday (23\/3\/2026) to 247,025\npassengers (154.1 percent). It then peaked on Tuesday (24\/3\/2026) with\n250,650 passengers (153.4 percent). The day after, on Wednesday\n(25\/3\/2026), the number of passengers remained high at 230,784 (141.2\npercent). Anne explained that these figures surpassed the previous\nyear\u2019s highest daily volume record of 223,348 long-distance train\npassengers. This reflects a strong and distributed return flow across\nvarious travel times. \u201cTrain travel has been increasing since mid-March\nand is currently in the return flow phase. Trains are chosen because\nthey are comfortable, on schedule, and provide travel certainty,\u201d said\nAnne. She added that long-distance train ticket sales reached 3,896,661\nor 109.1 percent of the 3,571,760 seat capacity. Meanwhile, local trains\nrecorded 703,518 tickets or 75.9 percent of the 926,936 seat capacity.\nThroughout the 11-26 March 2026 period, KAI served 3,678,880 passengers\non Java and Sumatra islands.
