PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) is set to merge Karet Station and\nBNI City Station in the near future. The President Director of KAI,\nBobby Rasyidin, revealed that the plan is targeted for completion in the\nfourth quarter of this year. \u201cIt will be soon this year; our priority is\nto make it as comfortable as possible. We will see at the end of the\nyear, November or December,\u201d he stated when met at the DPR RI building\nin Jakarta on Monday.<\/p>\n
As previously noted, the merger of the two stations was originally\nplanned for December 2025 but has not yet been realised. Rasyidin\nmentioned that the development of travelator facilities\u2014flat escalators\nsimilar to those found in airports\u2014will be implemented to ensure\npassenger comfort. \u201cWe will make it as comfortable as possible for\npassengers in the Greater Jakarta area,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
Previously, the Director General of Transport and Multimodal\nIntegration (DJITM) at the Ministry of Transportation, Risal Wasal,\nstated that the unification of Karet and BNI City stations would only\noccur once the construction of supporting facilities is complete. \u201cWe\nare waiting for all supporting facilities to be finished before\npassengers board at BNI City Station. We will not rush, for the sake of\npassenger comfort and safety,\u201d Risal said in Jakarta.<\/p>\n
The merger of the two stations is being carried out to realise the\nDukuh Atas Transit Oriented Development (TOD) area, which will integrate\nfour rail-based modes of transport. The area has been designed so that\nthe public can easily transition from one mode to another at Dukuh Atas,\nSudirman, or BNI City stations.<\/p>\n
Regarding the merger of Karet and BNI City stations, and to support\nconnectivity, PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) will construct a\nconnecting corridor between the two stations. \u201cKaret will not be closed,\nbut will be connected to BNI City Station.
