Jakarta (ANTARA) - PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero), the Bali\nProvincial Government, and the Badung Regency Government signed a Joint\nAgreement regarding the Railway Development Plan in Bali Province on\nTuesday (1\/9).<\/p>\n
The agreement was signed by the President Director of KAI, Bobby\nRasyidin, the Governor of Bali, Wayan Koster, and the Regent of Badung,\nI Wayan Adi Arnawa. The three parties have agreed to prepare studies and\ncoordination as the initial stage of the railway development plan in\nBali.<\/p>\n
KAI President Director Bobby Rasyundin stated that economic\ndevelopment, tourism, and public mobility are essential factors in\nassessing Bali\u2019s future transportation system requirements.<\/p>\n
According to data from the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) for\nBali Province, Bali\u2019s economy in the second quarter of 2026 grew by\n5.78% compared to the same period the previous year. The Balinese\neconomy during this period recorded a GRDP at current prices of Rp89.27\ntrillion. The accommodation and food services sector was the largest\ncontributor, accounting for 21.91%.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe economic development and tourism activities in Bali must be\naccompanied by transport planning capable of meeting future mobility\nneeds. Through this agreement, we are working with the local government\nto begin studying how railways can become part of the development of\nBali\u2019s transport system,\u201d said Bobby.<\/p>\n
Bali\u2019s mobility dynamics are also reflected in tourism and transport\nactivities. BPS recorded that international tourists arriving directly\nin Bali in June 2026 reached 605,013 visits, an increase of 4.63%\ncompared to May 2026, which saw 578,251 visits.<\/p>\n
In the same month, the number of international flight passengers\ndeparting from Bali reached 650,838 people, an increase of 4.93%\ncompared to the previous month. Meanwhile, domestic flight passengers\ndeparting from Bali were recorded at 329,891 people, an increase of\n4.68%.<\/p>\n
According to Bobby, Bali\u2019s character as one of Indonesia\u2019s tourism\nhubs necessitates transport planning that considers the connectivity\nbetween community activity centres, tourism areas, and various existing\ntransport modes.<\/p>\n
\u201cBali has a unique character in terms of mobility and regional\ndevelopment. Therefore, the needs, potential, intermodal integration,\nand the feasibility of railway development need to be studied\ncomprehensively so that the prepared plan has a strong foundation and\naligns with regional needs,\u201d said Bobby.<\/p>\n
The scope of the agreement includes data and information inventory,\nthe preparation of feasibility studies and\/or Detailed Engineering\nDesigns (DED), intermodal integration, human resource competency\nenhancement, and coordination with ministries, agencies, business\nentities, and relevant stakeholders.<\/p>\n
The Joint Agreement is valid for five years from the date of signing\nand can be followed up through Cooperation Agreements in accordance with\nthe authority of each party.<\/p>\n
\u201cKAI is ready to bring its railway experience and competence to the\njoint study process.
