Jakarta (ANTARA) – Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry
(Kadin) chairman Anindya Novyan Bakrie has stressed the importance of
strengthening business capabilities to meet a range of global
challenges, as the administration of President Prabowo Subianto marks
its first two years in office.

“I think the most important thing is capacity-building for businesses
so they are ready for the new normal economy, where the economy is
changing significantly because of geopolitics, climate change and the
need to integrate Indonesia into global supply chains,” Anindya said
after the Kadin Geoeconomics Policy Dialogue in Jakarta on Monday.

He also emphasised the importance of building the capacity of micro,
small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) to drive regional economic
growth. Anindya noted that MSMEs account for 97 per cent of all
companies in Indonesia, making it crucial to strengthen the sector’s
capabilities.

Anindya said these efforts would also be a focus of a revision to the
Kadin Law, which is expected to be completed in the near future. The
revision will prioritise advocacy with the government, business
development and support for companies.

On Monday (26 October), Kadin Indonesia held the Geoeconomics Policy
Dialogue as part of the programme for the 2026 Kadin National Leadership
Meeting (Rapimnas).

At the event, Asian Development Bank Institute (ADBI) dean and chief
executive Bambang Brodjonegoro highlighted the importance of the private
sector in helping Indonesia escape the middle-income trap.

He cited Japan and South Korea, where the private sector has been the
main driver of the economy. China, by contrast, has adopted a model in
which state-owned enterprises (SOEs) play a more dominant role, although
the private sector remains important.

Meanwhile, INSEAD dean Francisco Veloso stressed the need to develop
skills and leadership capabilities to prepare Indonesia to meet future
challenges and seize opportunities.

He said 50 years of collaboration with Kadin offered an opportunity
to assess the partnership to date and shape its future contribution to
the development of skills and leadership capabilities in Indonesia.

Veloso also observed that the world was undergoing transformation,
including through the development of artificial intelligence (AI), which
is changing many aspects of life and the economy. This, he said, made
the development of skills suited to future needs increasingly
important.

INSEAD hopes its collaboration with Kadin will continue to support
Indonesia in reaching the next level of development, in line with the
Indonesia 2045 vision.
",
