        "content": "<p>Jusuf Wanandi meets authorities&apos; summons<\/p>\n<p>JAKARTA (JP): Jusuf Wanandi was questioned for almost five<br>\nhours by the city branch of the Agency for the Coordinating of<br>\nSupport for National Stability (Bakorstanasda Jaya) yesterday, in<br>\nconnection with an explosion in a cheap apartment in Tanah Tinggi<br>\nlast month.<\/p>\n<p>Jusuf, who&apos;s brother Sofjan Wanandi has twice been interviewed<br>\nabout the same incident, was questioned by a team of<br>\nBakorstanasda Jaya officers at the Jakarta Military Police<br>\nheadquarters on Jl. Guntur, South Jakarta, from 9 a.m to 2 p.m,<br>\nwithout a lawyer present.<\/p>\n<p>Bakorstanasda Jaya spokesman Lt. Col. DJ. Nachrowi told<br>\nreporters that Jusuf said he was not acquainted with any of the<br>\nsuspects in the case and denied any role in the blast.<\/p>\n<p>As with his brother, Sofjan and Media Indonesia general<br>\nmanager Surya Paloh, who has also been questioned, Jusuf was<br>\nsummoned by security authorities following discovery of documents<br>\nsuggesting he provided financial support to those suspected of<br>\ncausing the explosion.<\/p>\n<p>&quot;He looked fine when we showed him the documents,&quot; Nachrowi,<br>\nwho is also spokesman for the Jakarta Military Command, said.<\/p>\n<p>Both Jusuf and Sofjan are executives of the Centre for<br>\nStrategic and International Studies (CSIS), a think-thank<br>\nresearch group.<\/p>\n<p>According to Nachrowi, Jusuf has promised to help the<br>\nauthorities investigate the case and will give himself up if<br>\nofficers prove his involvement.<\/p>\n<p>The hand-made bomb, which was not very powerful, exploded on<br>\nthe evening of Sunday Jan. 18 at a rented room in the Tanah<br>\nTinggi apartment. There were no fatalities, but part of the<br>\nceiling of the room was badly damaged.<\/p>\n<p>Police so far have detained two men, identified as Agus Priono<br>\nand Rahmat Basuki, for illegally making and possessing the bomb.<br>\nAgus was caught by his neighbors at the scene and Rahmat was<br>\narrested in Yogyakarta on Jan. 31.<\/p>\n<p>The two have claimed themselves to be sympathizers of the<br>\noutlawed People&apos;s Democratic Party (PRD).<\/p>\n<p>PRD&apos;s chairman Budiman Sudjatmiko, currently serving a 13<br>\nyears prison sentence, was questioned on Wednesday. He denied<br>\nthat the two suspects were members of his party, his lawyers said<br>\nin a statement.<\/p>\n<p>The documents found at the scene of the explosion are also<br>\nbelieved to contain the names of other people, not yet made<br>\npublic by the authorities.<\/p>\n<p>Nachrowi denied yesterday that the questioning of the three<br>\nfigures was orchestrated by the military.
