Justice under trial<\/p>\n
The authority of the law and justice is once again under trial
\n-- this time by the case of Marsinah, the female worker who was
\nbrutally killed three years ago, after leading protest actions
\nagainst a company in Sidoarjo, East Java, where she was working.<\/p>\n
Nine key witnesses, who were pronounced guilty of the crime by
\nthe Court of Justice, were exonerated by the Supreme Court, which
\nmeans that the Court of Justice had punished innocent people. So,
\nit is the duty of the police and prosecutors to find Marsinah's
\nreal killer(s).<\/p>\n
The Marsinah case is baffling, indeed. Everyone is clamoring
\nfor a thorough re-investigation of the case and the police and
\nprosecutors are at a loss about where to begin, while actually
\nthe case is not a complicated one. A number of basic clues are
\nalready available, right under our noses. The sad thing is that
\nthey were incorrectly comprehended by the police and prosecutors.<\/p>\n
Perhaps, however, it is not right to question the persistence
\nof the police and prosecutors in the case of Marsinah. Who knows,
\nthose who were exonerated by the Supreme Court might really be
\nguilty. The problem is that the Supreme Court, as the highest
\ncustodian of justice, has been issuing so many controversial
\ndecrees lately.<\/p>\n
