The Jakarta provincial administration has been carrying out a
\nseries of evictions to enforce the law. Among the targets of
\nthese evictions are makeshift houses on riverbanks and buildings
\nthat violate city layout plans.<\/p>\n
So far, ordinary people, with little knowledge of the legal
\nsystem, have been the victims. Will the law similarly apply to
\nthe wealthy who are backed by attorneys?<\/p>\n
A house owned by an official in Jakarta's Menteng area is
\nreportedly located in a zone which is set to be rehabilitated. A
\nbuilding owned by the environment minister's office is located
\nalongside the Cipinang river.<\/p>\n
Now, the ordinary people of Jakarta are waiting to see if
\njustice is upheld. Will the governor of Jakarta order the two
\nbuildings to be demolished without discrimination?<\/p>\n
