Justice banned from seminar<\/p>\n
SURABAYA: Deputy Chief Justice Adi Andojo Soetjipto failed to
\nshow up to address a seminar at the Airlangga University here
\nyesterday because he was not permitted to attend.<\/p>\n
\"Pak (Mr.) Adi only sent us a letter of apology for not being
\nallowed to go by his superior, Chief Justice Soerjono, but he
\nsent his paper to us,\" Dini Nurfirahmi, chair of the seminar's
\norganizing committee told The Jakarta Post.<\/p>\n
In his letter, according to Dini, Adi said he did not
\nunderstand why Soerjono did not permit him to address the
\nseminar, even though the topic of discussion had nothing to do
\nwith alleged corruption in the Supreme Court.<\/p>\n
The university's students had asked Adi to be a panelist at
\nthe seminar a month ago.<\/p>\n
Adi was scheduled to appear as a panelist along with Yusril
\nIhza Mahendra, a law lecturer at the University of Indonesia and
\nJ.E. Sahetapy at a session entitled The State and Society in the
\nMidst of a Credibility Crisis.<\/p>\n
The seminar's organizing committee, students of Airlangga
\nUniversity, decided not to find another panelist due to time
