        "content": "<p>Judges need protection<\/p>\n<p>From Republika<\/p>\n<p>Following the recent fatal shooting of the Supreme Court judge <br>\nresponsible for criminal cases, Syafiuddin Kartasasmita, SH., it <br>\nsuddenly makes you realize that up to now security for officials <br>\nholding such sensitive and important positions has been <br>\nneglected.<\/p>\n<p>While we clamor for the upholding of justice and demand <br>\ncleaner courts and proceedings, it escapes our attention that the <br>\nissuance of fair verdict by a conscientious and courageous judge <br>\nentails risk to life and limb.<\/p>\n<p>It would be an ironic tragedy if in this age of reform well-<br>\nheeled, trigger-happy avengers were able to halt the embryonic <br>\nattempts to bring about supremacy of the law.<\/p>\n<p>The government should have addressed this long ago. But better <br>\nlate than never.
