        "content": "<p>Judge detained in bribery case<\/p>\n<p>BATAM, Riau: The head of the Batam District Court, Krisman <br>\nSormin, is being held at the local prosecutor's office for <br>\nquestioning as a suspect in a Rp 50 million bribery case.<\/p>\n<p>\"He is being detained for 20 days and the detention can be <br>\nextended for 30 days, but this depends on the investigation,\" <br>\nchief prosecutor Sution Usman said here on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>He said his office had rejected Krisman's request to be placed <br>\nunder house arrest because the suspect has no home in the area.<\/p>\n<p>Sution could not say when the suspect's dossier would be <br>\nhanded over to the courts.<\/p>\n<p>It is alleged that Krisman received a bribe of Rp 50 million <br>\nfrom a female defendant, the late Sulistianti Sudirohusodo, three <br>\nyears ago.<\/p>\n<p>The court ruled against Sulistianti, despite Krisman's alleged <br>\npromise to rule in favor of her. --Antara<\/p>\n<p>East Java councillors told to cancel German trip<\/p>\n<p>SURABAYA: Germany's deputy ambassador to Indonesia, Hermann <br>\nSausen, has asked the East Java (Jatim) Legislative Council's <br>\nCommission B to cancel their plan to visit Germany to conduct <br>\ncomparative studies on tobacco plantations there.<\/p>\n<p>\"To learn about tobacco, you should go to Turkey or Greece, <br>\nnot to Germany. BA (Bukit Asam), a <br>\nstate-owned coal mining company, Ismet  Harmaini, said here on <br>\nThursday that his company was gearing up to go public in June.<\/p>\n<p>\"We are now all ready for that as we have wanted to become a <br>\npublicly listed company since 1997,\" Ismet said.<\/p>\n<p>Ismet explained that if the South Sumatra based PT. BA, which <br>\nproduces some 10 million tons of coal annually, wanted to be <br>\nprofessional and have a more competitive edge, it would have to <br>\nincrease its export capacity in the near future as well.<\/p>\n<p>PT. BA's business manager Teguh said at a seminar on the <br>\npotential of South Sumatra's natural resources in Palembang that <br>\nthe company planned to increase its exports to some 50 million <br>\ntons annually over the next 25 years, making the company the <br>\nworld's biggest coal exporter.<\/p>\n<p>Teguh further explained that South Sumatra had some 5.6 <br>\nbillion tons of coal deposits, amounting to 50 percent of <br>\nIndonesia's reserves.
