Candidates line up
\nfor Jambi election<\/p>\n
JAMBI: Although the registration for candidates in Jambi's
\ngubernatorial election does not open until Feb. 20, several
\npeople already have confirmed they will contest the election.<\/p>\n
The candidates include Zulkifli Nurdin, the former governor
\nwhose term ended on Dec. 10 last year, and Marzuki Usman, a
\nformer minister of tourism. Zulkifli will represent the National
\nMandate Party (PAN), while Marzuki is from the National Awakening
\nParty (PKB).<\/p>\n
"The party is still considering the right person to be the
\nvice governor candidate. His name will be announced shortly,"
\nZulkifli said on Friday.<\/p>\n
Marzuki has also yet to name a running mate. -- JP<\/p>\n

Police to lead
\ngrilling of regents<\/p>\n
KUPANG: Police officers will question Kupang Regent Ibrahim
\nAgustinus Medah and Rote Ndao Regent Christian Nehemia Dillak as
\nwitnesses in a Rp 829 million graft case involving the
\nprocurement of a fishing vessel.<\/p>\n
Kupang Police chief Adj. Sr. Comr. JB. Gebana will lead the
\n10-member team questioning the regents. The team will include
\nofficers from the East Nusa Tenggara provincial police and the
\nlocal Kupang Police.<\/p>\n
Gebana said the two regents would be sent summonses and the
\nquestioning would take place early next week.<\/p>\n
"We received a letter of permission (from the President to
\nquestion the regents) at noon local time on Thursday and we
\nimmediately set up the interrogation team," he said.<\/p>\n
The investigation of the case was delayed because the two
\nregents could not be questioned without first receiving
\npermission from the President. -- JP<\/p>",
