        "content": "<p>;JP;ABDUL;<br>\nANPAa..r..<br>\nNGOs-Ciremai-scene<br>\nNGOs reject status of Mount Ciremai as national park<br>\nJP\/4\/scene<\/p>\n<p>NGOs say no to<br>\nnational park<\/p>\n<p>KUNINGAN, West Java: Several non-governmental organizations <br>\n(NGOs) concerned with the environment expressed its opposition to <br>\na ministerial decree that changes the status of Mount Ciremai, <br>\nKuningan, West Java, from a conservation forest into a national <br>\npark.<\/p>\n<p>Avo Juhartono, Ciremai Forest Child Activities (AKAR) chairman <br>\nargued that the change would adversely affect the people in the <br>\nvicinity because they would no longer be allowed to benefit from <br>\nthe forest.<\/p>\n<p>He added that around 47 villages containing thousands of <br>\npeople would lose their main income source if there were a change <br>\nof status in the 15,500-hectare forest.<\/p>\n<p>\"I doubt that the local administrations in Kuningan and <br>\nMajalengka can provide jobs to compensate for the lost earnings,\" <br>\nsaid Avo. --Antara<\/p>",
