        "content": "<p>JP\/5\/HOSPITAL<\/p>\n<p>Malaysian hospitals favorite among RI patients<\/p>\n<p>Yuli Tri Suwarni<br>\nThe Jakarta Post\/Bandung<\/p>\n<p>Indonesians are increasingly looking to Malaysia for medical <br>\ntreatment.<\/p>\n<p>Malaysian deputy tourism minister Achmad Zahid Hamidi said on <br>\nFriday that, last year, Indonesians visiting Malaysia for medical <br>\npurposes reached 126,000 out of 174,000 foreigners receiving <br>\nmedical treatment in the country.<\/p>\n<p>The 126,000 Indonesians were among 789,000 Indonesians to <br>\nvisit Malaysia that year, said Hamidi, saying Indonesian visitors <br>\nhad generated 1.125 million ringgit in revenue for the Malaysian <br>\ngovernment or Rp 2.2 trillion.<\/p>\n<p>&quot;Patients stay in hospital for 12 days on average,&quot; said <br>\nHamidi, while promoting Malaysian hospital in the West Java <br>\ncapital of Bandung.<\/p>\n<p>Hamid said the Indonesian patients spent 1,500 ringgit a day <br>\neach on average. The Malaysian hospitals obtained Rp 600 billion <br>\nfrom the patients or some 252 million ringgit.<\/p>\n<p>He said there are 25 hospitals in Malaysia that are certified <br>\nto receive foreign patients, including in Penang, Selangor and <br>\nJohor.<\/p>\n<p>&quot;They have been approved by the International Organization for <br>\nStandardization, and their quality is controlled by the Malaysian <br>\ngovernment,&quot; said Roslan Othman, the director of the Malaysian <br>\nTourism Promotion Board.<\/p>\n<p>Fertility, skin care, slimming and cardiology clinics are <br>\nespecially popular, while other patients just want a general <br>\ncheckup, said Selangor State Minister for Tourism, Health and <br>\nConsumer Affair Lim Thuang Seng.<\/p>\n<p>&quot;One patient usually travels with two or three others ... they <br>\nalso visit tourist spots and shop,&quot; said Lim.<\/p>\n<p>Hamidi said the success rate in Malaysian hospitals was 54 <br>\npercent.<\/p>",
