Governor to take mayor's job<\/p>\n
PADANG: West Sumatra Governor Zainal Bakar will take over on
\nMonday the responsibilities of Payakumbuh mayor from Darlis
\nIlyas, whose has been inactive since March due to a graft case in
\nwhich he is implicated.<\/p>\n
The official transfer of duty will take place on Monday
\ndespite the absence of Darlis, who has claimed that he continues
\nas authorized mayor until the court has announced its verdict.<\/p>\n
Zainal will appoint Yusrizal Baharin, assistant to the
\nprovincial secretary for administrative affairs, to run the day-
\nto-day duties of the municipality.<\/p>\n
\"There is no reason to delay the ceremony despite the absence
\nof Darlis Ilyas. His absence will not affect the transfer of
\nduty,\" assistant to the provincial secretary for development
\naffairs Rusdi Lubis was quoted by Antara as saying.<\/p>\n
The transfer of duty was arranged following the home affairs
\nminister's decree dated March 10, which approves Darlis'
\ndismissal.<\/p>\n
Darlis claimed not to have received the ministerial decree,
\nalthough Rusli said the provincial administration had forwarded

Rebels shoot Marine in Aceh<\/p>\n
BANDA ACEH: The latest gunfight between security troops and
\narmed Free Aceh Movement (GAM) separatist rebels over the weekend
\nleft a Marine Corps officer wounded.<\/p>\n
Spokesman for the Aceh security operation command Maj. Zaenal
\nMutaqin said on Saturday that First Lt. Martin Luther Ginting had
\nsustained a gunshot wound to his stomach during an exchange of
\nfire that had followed a military search of a GAM base in Matang
\nGuruh village in North Aceh, some 330 kilometers east of here.<\/p>\n
Zainal told Antara that Martin had been admitted to a military
