        "content": "<p>JP\/2\/across\/heading 12pt U75<\/p>\n<p>Across the Archipelago<\/p>\n<p>Bandung students to <br>\nvisit France, Germany<\/p>\n<p>BANDUNG, West Java: A group of political and social science <br>\nstudents at Padjadjaran University are scheduled to visit France <br>\nand Germany from April 26 to 30.<\/p>\n<p>The students will attend seminars on economic cooperation with <br>\nIndonesia following the establishment of the European Common <br>\nMarket, Antara reported.<\/p>\n<p>On April 26, the group will be in Paris to take part in a <br>\nseminar on economic cooperation between France and Indonesia. On <br>\nApril 29 it will be in Cologne for a seminar on economic <br>\ncooperation between Indonesia and Germany.<\/p>\n<p>While in Germany, the group is scheduled also to visit the <br>\nUniversity of Technology in Braunschweigh, where it will present <br>\nSundanese art performances and costumes.<\/p>\n<p>Rector of the university, Maman Rukmana, and a number of <br>\nlecturers will be accompanying the group. (prs)<\/p>\n<p>Plane makes in<br>\nwith one engine<\/p>\n<p>BALIKPAPAN, East Kalimantan: A Pelita Air Service DASH-7 plane <br>\nmade an emergency landing at Sepinggan airport here yesterday at <br>\n9:00 a.m., with only one of its two engines working.<\/p>\n<p>The PK-PSW plane carrying dozens of passengers from Surabaya <br>\nhad to hover around the airport for several minutes to empty its <br>\nfuel before making the emergency landing, Antara reported.<\/p>\n<p>No one was hurt in the incident, which brought traffic at the <br>\nairport to a halt for around 30 minutes. (lem)<\/p>\n<p>Five killed in<br>\nboat accident<\/p>\n<p>SAMARINDA, East Kalimantan: At least five were killed when a <br>\npassenger boat collided with a cargo boat in Mahakam River near <br>\nSegihan village, Kutai regency, on Thursday at dawn.<\/p>\n<p>Kutai police said the collision between Sama Manis, the <br>\npassenger boat, and Yulia, the cargo boat, was due to a thick fog <br>\nwhich resulted in poor visibility, Antara reported.<\/p>\n<p>Most of the around 30 people on the passenger boat were asleep <br>\nwhen the collision occurred.<\/p>\n<p>The five were Rustam Fatah, a lecturer at Mulawarman <br>\nUniversity Samarinda, Hardi, 70, Tan, 70, Tumirah, 3, and Ris, 4. <br>\nThe body of the latter has yet to be found.<\/p>\n<p>Lt.Col. Johanes Sudiarna <br>\nHadiwikarta, 50, to become the Bishop of the Surabaya Diocese in <br>\nEast Java.<\/p>\n<p>He will replace Mgr. Aloysius Joseph Dibyakaryana, 76, the <br>\nhead of Documentation and Information Division of the Indonesian <br>\nCatholic Bishops (KWI), Alfons S. Suhardi, announced yesterday.<\/p>\n<p>Alfons said Mgr. Pietro Sambi, the Vatican ambassador to <br>\nIndonesia, sent him a letter announcing the appointment of <br>\nJohanes.<\/p>\n<p>Johanes has been the Vicar General of the Semarang Diocese in <br>\nCentral Java since September, 1990.<\/p>\n<p>According to Alfons, Mgr. Johanes once studied Arabic and <br>\nIslam at the Papacy Institute in Rome. This makes him the only <br>\nbishop in Indonesia with a detailed understanding of Arabic and <br>\nIslam -- a valuable asset for inter-religion dialogue in <br>\nIndonesia, he said.<\/p>\n<p>Alfons announced that his office has not yet set the date of <br>\nthe ordination ceremony for Johanes.
