Street children come together to enjoy communal meal<\/p>\n
Reports have circulated recently about the incidence of
\nmalnutrition in Indonesian children, a cause of much concern.<\/p>\n
Care of Kids Ministry, a non-governmental organization engaged
\nin social activities with a focus on health service for street
\nchildren, homeless people as well as the poor and disadvantaged,
\nlaunched a program for the distribution of healthy and nutritious
\nfood on the banks of the Grogol River, West Jakarta, on July 2.<\/p>\n
It was part of the group's Love Street Children movement.<\/p>\n
During the program, nutritious food was provided for homeless
\npeople and street children in the area, totaling around 250.<\/p>\n
Instead of distributing the food in boxes, members of Care of
\nKids Ministry doled out rice, vegetables and side dishes on
\nplates to them directly. Volunteers and invitees later joined
\nthem in the meal.<\/p>\n
"Togetherness" was the theme adopted for the program, which
\naimed at familiarizing people with the life of street children,
\nwhile empathizing with and caring for them at the same time.<\/p>\n
"Through this program, we hope we can all be more sensitive
\nand take greater care. Let's join hands to heighten our concern
\nfor the well-being of our fellow citizens and the environment,"
\nsaid chairperson of Care of Kids Ministry Lidya Mantiri.<\/p>\n
