        "content": "<p>JP\/13\/Money<\/p>\n<p>Budiman reelected as IRSG Sec-Gen<\/p>\n<p>JAKARTA: Indonesian AFS Budiman has been reelected as <br>\nsecretary general of the International Rubber Study Group (IRSG) <br>\nduring its 103rd meeting in Glasgow on Feb. 7, a statement from <br>\nthe Indonesian embassy in London has said.<\/p>\n<p>Budiman has been reelected for the next two-year term through <br>\na vote participated in by 15 out of 17 member countries, said the <br>\nstatement which was made available to Antara here Friday.<\/p>\n<p>Fourteen countries including the United Nations voted for <br>\nBudiman and one country, Malaysia, did not vote for him.<\/p>\n<p>IRSG is the only international organization of rubber <br>\nproducers.<\/p>\n<p>Indonesian Ambassador Nana Sutresna, who led an Indonesian <br>\ndelegation to the vote, said a tripartite agreement signed by <br>\nmain rubber producers -- Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand -- will <br>\nhopefully raise international natural rubber price following a <br>\nsurplus of natural rubber worldwide.<\/p>\n<p>IRSG groups Cameroon, Belgium, Britain, France, Germany, <br>\nIndonesia, Italy, Japan, Malaysia, Nigeria, Russia, Singapore, <br>\nSpain, Sri Lanka, Thailand, the Netherlands, and the United <br>\nStates.<\/p>\n<p>Thailand tourists top 10m in 2001<\/p>\n<p>BANGKOK: Visitor arrivals to Thailand broke the 10 million <br>\nmark for the first time in 2001, despite the Sept. 11 attacks <br>\nwhich depressed the tourism industry worldwide, officials said <br>\nThursday.<\/p>\n<p>Some 10,061,950 visitors came to Thailand last year, up by 5.8 <br>\npercent over 2000, the Tourism Authority of Thailand said.<\/p>\n<p>\"Clearly, Thailand was not as badly affected by the incident <br>\nin the U.S. and the global tourism slowdown,\" said the TAT's <br>\nacting governor Juthamas Siriwan.<\/p>\n<p>\"We have successfully positioned ourselves as a peaceful and <br>\nstable country, backed by high service standards, great tourism <br>\nproducts and very good value for money,\" she said in a statement.<\/p>\n<p>\"We can also expect a strong year ahead in 2002.\"<\/p>\n<p>Visitor arrivals declined in both September and October after <br>\nthe terrorist attacks, which sent shockwaves through the global <br>\ntourism and airline sectors.<\/p>\n<p>The authority said October's arrivals at 720,247 represented a <br>\nrecord low. --AFP<\/p>",
