Journalists protest legislators<\/p>\n
JAKARTA: Dozens of journalists protested on Friday against a
\nHouse of Representatives Commission, which summoned three editors
\nafter its members were questioned by journalists about a possible
\ngraft story.<\/p>\n
The House of Representatives' Commission III for legal affairs
\non Friday summoned the editors of two daily newspapers and two
\nradio stations.<\/p>\n
The journalists demanded that the Commission III for legal
\naffairs apologize and promise not to make similar summonses in
\nthe future.<\/p>\n
The editors were summoned after lawmaker Djoko Eddie Soetjipto
\nsaid he had been interviewed by reporters from the four media
\nabout an alleged bribery case involving Commission III members.<\/p>\n
The editors of the Batavia daily, Elshinta radio, and Trijaya
\nradio attended the summonses on Thursday, but the editor of the
\nSuara Pembaruan newspaper did not show up.<\/p>\n
The three editors said they had never published any reports
\nabout any alleged bribery that took place during a recent auction
\nof illegally smuggled sugar.
