        "content": "<p>\u201cThis is an era of fast, abundant information, much of it not well\nverified as people race against time,\u201d Minister Meutya Hafid said at the\n2026 World Press Freedom Day event in Central Jakarta on Sunday.<\/p>\n<p>She said journalists must preserve the value and usefulness of news\nfor the public despite pressure to produce content quickly, stressing\nthat speed should not override accuracy in digital reporting.<\/p>\n<p>Hafid emphasized journalism must serve the broader public\ninterest.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe produce news for the benefit of many people, not to harm them,\u201d\nshe said.<\/p>\n<p>She added that delivering accurate information is a constitutional\nmandate under Article 28 of Indonesia\u2019s 1945 Constitution.<\/p>\n<p>In this context, the government and the press share equal\nresponsibility to ensure the quality of information circulating in the\npublic sphere.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cInformation is part of human rights, but what is meant is accurate\ninformation, not misinformation,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>Hafid also highlighted the need for caution in live broadcasts across\nconventional and digital platforms, given their ability to spread\ninformation instantly.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere are now many live broadcasts, not only on television but also\non new media.
