The news of several journalists missing in the waters of the Sunda\nStrait while performing duties to cover the eruption of Mount Anak\nKrakatau has sparked deep concern among the press community. As search\noperations continue, journalists in Banten have gathered to offer\nprayers for the safety of their colleagues.<\/p>\n
The joint prayer was organised as a form of solidarity and moral\nsupport for the journalists whose whereabouts remain unknown. They were\npreviously travelling in a speedboat to report on the volcanic activity\nof Mount Anaklag Krakatau in the waters of the Pandeglang Regency since\nMonday (7\/9).<\/p>\n
The Director of News at LKBN ANTARA, Virgandhi Prayudantoro, stated\nthat the activity arose from the shared concern of media workers. He\nnoted that prayer serves as a form of support while joint SAR (Search\nand Rescue) teams continue their search efforts.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are gathering to pray and hope for the best. The large ANTARA\nfamily, along with other media colleagues, remains optimistic that our\nfriends can be found again in good health,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Journalists are supporting one another amidst the ongoing search. The\nsituation has drawn the attention of the press community not only to the\nprogress of the search but also to the condition of the families\nawaiting news. The presence of fellow journalists on the ground serves\nas a form of support so that the families do not feel they are facing\nthis situation alone.<\/p>\n
Virgandhi emphasised that communication with various parties is\nongoing to support the search process. Coordination involves Basarnas\n(National Search and Rescue Agency), the TNI (Indonesian National Armed\nForces), the Polri (Indonesian National Police), and local governments\nin Banten and Pandeglang.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are still working with the existing stakeholders, including the\npolice, Basarnas, the TNI, and others, up to the regional leadership\ncoordination forum (forkopimda) in Banten, Pandeglang, and the\nsurrounding areas,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
He added that LKBN ANTARA continues to communicate with the Banten\nRegional Police, Basarnas, the TNI, and the Forkopimda ranks to help\noptimise the search.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe regional police have stated that they, along with relevant\nagencies, are ready to conduct the search as extensively as possible,\neven extending the search period for the next seven days if necessary,\u201d\nhe noted.<\/p>\n
Several leaders from LKBN ANTARA were present at the location to\nprovide support to the victims\u2019 families and to demonstrate the strength\nof inter-media solidarity.
