        "content": "<p>The Regional Office of the Directorate General of Corrections\n(Ditjenpas) for the Special Region of Jakarta, alongside a joint task\nforce, has intensified raids at the Jakarta Class IIA Narcotics\nPrison.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOn Thursday (17\/9) night, we conducted an incidental or sudden raid,\ncarried out as a joint operation,\u201d stated the Head of the Jakarta\nDitjenpas Regional Office, Wachid Wibowo, in Jakarta on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>Wachid noted that 110 officers were deployed, involving various law\nenforcement agencies and related institutions. The raid included teams\nfrom the Directorate of Security and Intelligence of the Directorate\nGeneral of Corrections, the Jakarta Narcotics Class IIA Prison staff,\nthe East Jakarta Metro Police, the local Koramil (Military Command), the\nEast Jakarta City National Narcotics Board (BNNK), and Brimob (Mobile\nBrigade) units.<\/p>\n<p>Prior to the search, all officers participated in an assembly to\nensure personnel readiness and the proper execution of the raid.<\/p>\n<p>Wachid explained that the deployment of the joint task force was\nintended to strengthen inspections and ensure that activities were\ncarried out thoroughly within the prison environment.<\/p>\n<p>The raid targeted the residential areas of the Jakarta Class IIA\nNarcotics Prison, which currently houses over 2,000 inmates convicted of\nnarcotics-related offences.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDuring the raid, we are grateful that no drugs or illegal\ncommunication devices were found. We also engaged in dialogue with the\ninmates, who stated they do not use drugs, which was proven by our\nfindings during the raid,\u201d Wachid explained.<\/p>\n<p>Officers did discover several metal objects that are restricted\nwithin the residential area, such as metal spoons and small scissors.\nWachid stated that these items have been secured and will be dealt with\naccording to applicable regulations.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to the searches, the joint task force conducted urine\ntests as part of the raid proceedings. Fifty inmates were randomly\nselected to undergo urine testing, which was administered by the East\nJakarta BNNK.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe also conducted urine tests for both officers and inmates, and all\nresults were negative. Specific tests were also conducted for security\nofficers who interact directly with inmates and provide services; all\nresults were negative,\u201d said Wachid.<\/p>\n<p>This joint raid is part of the action programme of the Ministry of\nImmigration and Corrections and follows the directives of the\nDirectorate General of Corrections. \u201cThis is certainly to create a\nprison environment that is free from drugs and illegal communication\ndevices,\u201d Wachid concluded.<\/p>",
