Medan, North Sumatra \u2014 The Danau Toba Search and Rescue Post, in\nconjunction with a joint SAR team, has located a second victim of the\nlandslide disaster that occurred in Wek I urban village, South Tapanuli\nRegency, North Sumatra, on Monday (18 May).<\/p>\n
\u201cThe second victim named Sariman Gulo was found today at 09:30 WIB in\na deceased condition,\u201d said Hery Marantika, Head of the Medan A-class\nBasarnas Office, in an official statement received in Medan on\nWednesday.<\/p>\n
\u201cPreviously the first victim named Yasine Gulo (43), a woman, was\nfound on Tuesday (19 May) morning in a deceased state,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
In the SAR operation, Hery said, the team conducted an integrated\nsearch using manual search techniques, phased excavation of landslide\nmaterial using heavy equipment, and sweeps of points suspected based on\ncommunity information and field analysis by the team on the ground.<\/p>\n
He said the second victim was located after the team carried out\nfurther excavation and sweeps in the priority search sector.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe victim was then evacuated and handed over to the family for\nburial,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
In response to the tragedy, authorities expressed their condolences\nto the victim\u2019s family.<\/p>\n
He also commended the cooperation of all entities involved in the\nsearch operation, including the Danau Toba SAR Post, Sibolga SAR Post,\nTapanuli Selatan Regency BPBD, the TNI-Polri, and PT AR Martabe.<\/p>\n
\u201cWith the recovery of all victims, the SAR operation for the\nlandslide in Batangtoru District is officially declared complete and\nclosed.
