Jember, East Java - A Joint Search and Rescue (SAR) team has located\none tourist swept away by waves at Seruni Payangan Beach in Jember\nRegency, East Java, who was declared deceased on Monday.<\/p>\n
Head of the Banyuwangi Search and Rescue Office, I Made Oka Astawa,\nstated in a written statement received in Jember: \u2018After three days of\nSAR operations for two individuals swept by currents at Seruni Payangan\nBeach in Sumberejo Village, Ambulu Subdistrict, we have successfully\nfound one victim.\u2019<\/p>\n
He identified the deceased as Barokatul Hidayat, 27, a resident of\nKarang Kebon Hamlet, Suci Village, Panti Subdistrict, Jember\nRegency.<\/p>\n
\u2018The victim was found deceased at 5:30 AM after local fishermen\nreported suspicious objects in the Payangan waters,\u2019 he added.<\/p>\n
Following verification and evacuation procedures, the body was\nrecovered at coordinates 08\u00b026\u201925.909\u201dS - 113\u00b034\u201956.435\u201dE, approximately\n1.21 kilometres from the incident location in a 161-degree\ndirection.<\/p>\n
\u2018The victim\u2019s body has been handed over to the family for further\nprocedures and burial,\u2019 he said.<\/p>\n
He thanked all SAR units and the local community for their\ncooperation during the search operation.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, Jember Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) Head Edy Budi\nSusilo said the search for the two tourists at Seruni Payangan Beach\ninvolved multiple SAR units, including Jember SAR Post, Jember BPBD,\nAmbulu Police Station, Ambulu Military District Command, Jember Police\nWater Unit, Puger Navy Base, Payangan Sea Forest SAR, Panti Village\nDisaster Response Team, Baret Rescue, Siluman Rescue, Senkom Jember, and\nlocal communities.<\/p>\n
The SAR operation was supported by rubber boats, water rescue\nequipment, medical supplies, communication devices, and other support\nvessels.<\/p>\n
\u2018The search for the second victim, Rifki, is ongoing, with attention\nto weather conditions and personnel safety,\u2019 he stated.<\/p>\n
Edy urged the public to remain cautious and vigilant when visiting\nsouthern beaches, especially during periods of strong waves and currents\nlike those affecting southern Jember Regency.<\/p>\n
