        "content": "<p>Joint naval patrols held<\/p>\n<p>HANOI (Reuters): Vietnam and Thailand will hold their first<br>\njoint naval patrols in November to guarantee security for ships<br>\nexploiting oil and gas in the Gulf of Thailand, the official<br>\nVietnam News Agency (VNA) said.<\/p>\n<p>The two countries signed an agreement last August to divide<br>\noverlapping oil and gas blocks along their territory in the Gulf<br>\nof Thailand.<\/p>\n<p>\"The naval forces of Vietnam and Thailand, through joint<br>\npatrols of the sea, will enhance their friendship and will ensure<br>\nsecurity for vessels to effectively exploit natural resources in<br>\nthe Gulf of Thailand,\" the VNA report, seen yesterday, said.<\/p>\n<p>VNA said regulations on the joint patrols were fixed during a<br>\nvisit this week to Vietnam by senior Thai naval officials.<\/p>\n<p>The agreement comes ahead of a planned trip to Vietnam by<br>\nCambodian First Prime Minister Ung Huot possibly in early June<br>\nfor talks expected to focus on disputed areas in the Gulf of<br>\nThailand.<\/p>",
