        "content": "<p>A joint task force coordinated by the Riau Regional Office of the\nDirectorate General of Immigration raided and inspected several\ncommunity houses (CH) or immigrant shelters in Pekanbaru. Agung Prianto,\nHead of the Riau Regional Office of the Directorate General of\nImmigration, stated that this first-of-its-kind joint operation in\nPekanbaru was initiated by the Head of the Pekanbaru Immigration\nDetention Centre as a follow-up to the establishment of the\nCommunication Forum for Handling Detainees and Refugees (Forkopdensi).\n\u201cThis operation will be conducted routinely to make Pekanbaru a more\ncomfortable and safe city, particularly to suppress violations by\nrefugees so that the public is safe and not disturbed by foreign\nrefugees,\u201d he said on Wednesday evening. During the raid, the joint\nforces comprising elements of the Indonesian National Armed Forces,\nNational Police, National Search and Rescue Agency, and the Pekanbaru\ncity government\u2014including the National and Political Unity Agency, Civil\nService Police Unit, Education Office, and Fire Department\u2014visited four\ncommunity houses in Pekanbaru. The first location raided was Wisma\nOrchid, which houses more than 100 refugees from Afghanistan and\nPalestine. Officers recorded refugees who possessed four-wheeled and\ntwo-wheeled vehicles. \u201cMany are now driving and are confirmed not to\nhave driving licences. We urge them to wear helmets when riding\nmotorcycles. There have been no other criminal acts so far,\u201d he said. It\nwas also discovered that refugees at the shelter were selling goods. The\nPekanbaru Civil Service Police Unit provided guidance, including\ninstructing them not to trade on pavements. At the second location, Siak\nResor, officers encountered dozens of refugees from Sudan, several from\nAfghanistan, and one from Pakistan. Here, they were also instructed not\nto drive and to comply with curfew hours. At the Asqiya CH in Simpang\nTiga, which also houses hundreds of Afghan refugees, those who are\nsingle were specifically asked to maintain better cleanliness. The final\nlocation visited was the largest shelter, housing 570 Rohingya refugees.\nThe site, located near the Pekanbaru Immigration Detention Centre, is\nprovided on land made available by the International Organization for\nMigration.<\/p>",
