Job seekers flood Bekasi<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): The number of new job seekers in Bekasi, 30 km
\nsoutheast of the city, has significantly increased after the Idul
\nFitri holiday last month, according to data from the local
\nmanpower ministry office.<\/p>\n
The data shows that during the holiday season two weeks ago,
\nthe number of new people looking for jobs was 112. Last week, it
\nhad increased to 1,617.<\/p>\n
The figure is in addition to the current total of 43,400 job
\nseekers in Bekasi, 12,000 of whom have been employed in various
\ncompanies through initiatives organized by the manpower ministry.<\/p>\n
The head of the local office of the Manpower Ministry, Amar
\nSyamsurya, disclosed yesterday that there are currently 14,000
\njob opportunities available.<\/p>\n
He added that he had sent 400 unemployed people to sit
\nentrance tests in nine local companies.<\/p>\n
"Each of the four companies needs 30 workers on average,"
\nSyamsurya said. The four firms are textile, wood, electronics and
\ncar factories.<\/p>\n
There are 153,900 people working in 1,835 companies in the
