JK expressed condolences over the death of\nRyamizard Ryacudu, who passed away on Sunday. \u2018He was a prominent figure\nand general who made substantial contributions to national security and\ndedicated service as a military member,\u2019 said Jusuf Kalla in a statement\non Sunday in Jakarta. He added that Ryamizard\u2019s passing is a significant\nloss for the nation due to his role and dedication in safeguarding\nnational interests. Kalla also mentioned the deceased\u2019s family\nbackground, which has a long tradition of military service. \u2018This is a\ngreat loss for all of us following the passing of General Ryamizard\nRyacudu,\u2019 he said. Ryamizard Ryacudu was known as a senior Indonesian\nArmy officer who served as Army Chief of Staff from 2002 to 2005. After\nretiring, he was appointed Defence Minister from 2014 to 2019.\nThroughout his career, Ryamizard was active in various efforts to\nstrengthen national defence and build defence institution capacity amid\nevolving strategic environments.
