        "content": "<p>Former Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court Jimly Asshiddiqie\nattended the funeral of politician and businessman Rachmat Gobel, who\nwas buried at the Kalibata Heroes\u2019 Cemetery in Jakarta on Friday\nafternoon, 10 July 2026. Jimly remembered the NasDem politician as a\nfigure who mingled easily with anyone, regardless of their economic\nstatus.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFrom the testimony of many people who socialised with him, he was a\ngood man. Wealthy, but his wealth did not stop him from socialising with\nthose who had little. He was close to everyone,\u201d said Jimly after\nescorting Rachmat to his final resting place at the Kalibata Heroes\u2019\nCemetery in Jakarta.<\/p>\n<p>Jimly also said he felt fortunate to have known Rachmat, who once\nvisited his residence. He judged that Rachmat had a flexible personality\nand was open in his social interactions. \u201cTo describe him, he was an\napproachable man,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>According to Jimly, Rachmat\u2019s passing felt sudden because he had not\nknown that Rachmat had a history of heart disease. Reflecting on the\nloss, he reminded everyone to prepare themselves, as death can come at\nany moment.<\/p>\n<p>He then prayed that Rachmat would be granted the best place at God\u2019s\nside in recognition of his services in business and politics.<\/p>\n<p>Rachmat Gobel\u2019s funeral was conducted with military honours by\nsoldiers of the Jakarta Capital Garrison Command. Deputy Speaker of the\nHouse of Representatives Saan Mustopa served as the inspecting officer\nat the ceremony.<\/p>\n<p>Rachmat Gobel was born on 3 September 1962 to Thayeb Mohammad Gobel\nand Annie Noto Gobel. During his lifetime, Rachmat served as Deputy\nSpeaker of the House of Representatives from 2019 to 2024 and as\nMinister of Trade from 2014 to 2015.<\/p>\n<p>Rachmat was also awarded the Bintang Mahaputera Adipradana. He\nbreathed his last at Brawijaya Hospital in Tebet on Friday, 10 July\n2026, at 03.20 Western Indonesia Time due to illness.<\/p>",
