JAKARTA (JP): State owned PT Jakarta Industrial Estate
\nPulogadung (JIEP) expects a stable occupancy rate this year
\ndespite negative reports on the country's investment climate.<\/p>\n
JIEP president Otje Soetoto said here on Wednesday that he was
\noptimistic that the unfavorable reports regarding Indonesian
\ninvestment would not really hurt investors confidence.<\/p>\n
He cited that the company's occupancy rate, which reached 95
\npercent at present, would stay high in the coming months,
\nalthough some analysts feared the uncertainty in the investment
\nclimate would scare off foreign investors.<\/p>\n
\"Our high occupancy rate shows that confidence is high among
\nlocal and foreign investors in Pulogadung, however,\" said Otje
\nduring the company's business meeting here on Wednesday.<\/p>\n
JIEP, which provides industrial land sites, standard factory
\nbuildings and warehouses to local and foreign investors in its
\n415-hectare industrial estate, in Pulogadung, East Jakarta, has
\n420 occupants.<\/p>\n
Most of the companies are involved in metal-based, printing,
\nand pharmaceuticals industries, Otje said, adding that 30 percent
\nof the existing companies were operated by foreign investors.<\/p>\n
He acknowledged that some of the company's occupants had quit
\ndue to financial difficulties or because their leasing contracts
\nhad expired.<\/p>\n
Such a withdrawal is common in the company because there are
\nalways newcomers, he said.<\/p>\n
He stated that JIEP would also increase security in the area,
\ngiving investors more assurance that they were safe to do
\nbusiness in Pulogadung.<\/p>\n
Otje added that the business activities at Pulogadung were not
\naffected by recent riots and labor protests since the location
\nwas far enough away from the turmoil.<\/p>\n
Otje said that the company planned to build an airport and
\nrepair the main road, buildings and environment in the industrial
\narea to make life more convenient for potential investors.(07)<\/p>",
