        "content": "<p>JICT's productivity grows<\/p>\n<p>JAKARTA (JP): PT Jakarta International Container Terminal<br>\n(JICT) said on Monday productivity at the Jakarta container<br>\nterminal had risen since it took over the terminal's operation in<br>\nApril 1, 1999.<\/p>\n<p>JICT, a joint venture of Hong Kong-based Hutchison Port<br>\nHolding and state-owned port company PT Pelabuhan Indonesia II,<br>\nsaid in a statement the terminal's productivity rose 28.5 percent<br>\nafter five months of operation under the new company.<\/p>\n<p>The company further said ten new service calls -- including<br>\nIndonesia's first direct service to and from North Europe,<br>\nCanada, the Middle East and India -- had been added to the<br>\nterminal since it took over the port's operation.<\/p>\n<p>\"Shipping lines are impressed with the improvements at the<br>\ncontainer terminal in such a short time,\" the company said.<\/p>\n<p>The company made the remarks following an allegation by the<br>\nsecretary-general of the Indonesian Shipowners Association,<br>\nBarens Saragih, that services at the port had deteriorated since<br>\nJICT took over the operation.<\/p>\n<p>Hutchison obtained 51 percent of JICT last year through the<br>\ngovernment's privatization program.
