JICA to open branch office in Makassar<\/p>\n
MAKASSAR, South Sulawesi: The Japan International
\nCooperation Agency (JICA) plans to soon open a branch office in
\nMakassar in a bid to help facilitate its development projects in
\nEastern Indonesia.<\/p>\n
JICA deputy head Hanazato Nobuhito announced the plan on
\nThursday during a meeting with South Sulawesi Governor Amin Syam
\nin Makassar.<\/p>\n
Nobuhito said the agency would help finance the development of
\nthe Mamminasata Metropolitan City in South Sulawesi as well as
\neducation and village development projects there.<\/p>\n
JICA would also increase its funding assistance for road and
\nsanitation development projects, as well as help the People's
\nEconomic Empowerment Movement, which was launched by the
\nprovincial administration last year.<\/p>\n
In addition, the agency planned to hold talks with Hasanuddin
\nUniversity about Japanese aid to eastern parts of Indonesia.
