Jewelry worth Rp 100m stolen<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): Two men broke into a house on Jl. Karbela, in
\nSetiabudi, South Jakarta, Thursday and stole two diamond rings
\nand 102 grams of gold jewelry worth a total of Rp 100 million
\n(US$41,666).<\/p>\n
A sergeant at the South Jakarta Police Precinct said the
\nthieves arrived at the house in a blue Kijang van at about 2:30
\np.m.<\/p>\n
\"The thieves were believed to have used a master key to open
\nthe door since it showed no sign of damage,\" he said.<\/p>\n
A cigarette vendor near the house saw the two men enter the
\nhouse and leave a few minutes later.<\/p>\n
The owner, Johasni, arrived at the house at about 6:30 p.m.
\nand found the door unlocked, the police officer said.<\/p>\n
The 44-year-old private employee said she was shocked when she
\ndiscovered her jewelry was missing from a bedroom drawer.<\/p>\n
The victim then reported the theft to the nearby police
\nstation.<\/p>\n
Police are investigating the possible involvement of
\nacquaintances of Johasni's, the sergeant said, given the lack of
\nforced entry.<\/p>\n
The theft was the second diamond theft in South Jakarta this
\nmonth.<\/p>\n
The first was from a house on Jl. Block C1, in the Bank Bumi
\nDaya housing complex, in Jagakarsa. There two men arrived at the
\nhouse and pretended to be friends of the owner.<\/p>\n
They stole jewelry worth Rp 10 million and a Cartier
\nwristwatch on May 14.<\/p>\n
The owner, air stewardess Heni Hendrayani, was not at home.<\/p>\n
