        "content": "<p>The search for Veronica Beatrix Jessica (23), a victim of the pinisi\nvessel Feronia, which sank in the waters of Komodo National Park, Labuan\nBajo, West Manggarai, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), has entered its tenth\nday. The National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas) will evaluate the\nsearch operation over the next few days.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are continuing the operation and have now entered the tenth day.\nWe will evaluate it three days from now,\u201d Basarnas chief, Vice Marshal\nTNI Mohammad Syafii, said after a working visit to the Class A Search\nand Rescue Office in Kupang, NTT, as quoted by detikBali on Friday (23\nOctober 2026).<\/p>\n<p>Syafii said the search for Jessica would continue if the evaluation\nfound there was still a possibility of locating her. The operation could\nbe halted if conditions at the site indicated it was no longer\neffective.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFor example, the location of the vessel in distress. The depth is\nmore than 200 metres, and its position has not been found because the\nvessel sank immediately when it capsized,\u201d Syafii explained.<\/p>\n<p>Syafii said a range of equipment had been deployed in the search. If\nthe likelihood of finding the victim and the wreck becomes increasingly\nsmall, the operation will be shifted from a joint search to routine\noperations conducted by Basarnas.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf there are signs that the vessel has been located, we will\ncertainly evacuate it. The one victim, Jessica, is still being searched\nfor,\u201d Syafii said.<\/p>\n<p>Syafii also highlighted the relatively high frequency of ship\nsinkings in Labuan Bajo.
