The Jakarta Composite Index (JCI) closed sharply lower on Thursday, shedding 1.13% to end at 6,301.77, as heavy foreign selling and a negative reaction to the latest MSCI review weighed on the market. The index was dragged down primarily by major stocks including Bank Central Asia and Amman Mineral Internasional, with the basic materials sector suffering the deepest decline. The sell-off occurred despite the MSCI index changes not taking effect until the end of August, suggesting investors are pre-emptively adjusting their portfolios.

The Jakarta Composite Index (IHSG) closed weaker on Thursday’s
trading (13/8/2026). The IHSG was pressured to the point of nearly
parking at the 6,200 level.

Based on data from the Indonesia Stock Exchange, the IHSG closed at
6,301.77, down 72.08 points or 1.13% from the previous close of
6,373.85.

The IHSG opened at 6,388.23 and touched a high of 6,390.33. However,
selling pressure brought the index to a low of 6,281.57 before ending at
6,301.77.

Today’s trading recorded a transaction value of Rp13.56 trillion with
a volume of 26.62 billion shares. Transaction frequency reached 1.9
million times.

The IHSG’s reversal today was also felt by the majority of stocks.
This morning, the number of stocks in the green zone was still higher
than those that were corrected.

At the end of trading, 186 stocks rose, 474 stocks fell, and 303
other stocks were stagnant. Market capitalisation was recorded at
Rp11,050 trillion.

Among the stocks weighing on the IHSG, PT Bank Central Asia Tbk
(BBCA) was the biggest drag with a negative contribution of 7.48 points,
followed by PT Amman Mineral Internasional Tbk (AMMN) at 7.14
points.

Furthermore, PT Barito Pacific Tbk (BRPT) pressured the IHSG by 5.25
points, PT Barito Renewables Energy Tbk (BREN) by 3.93 points, and PT
Impack Pratama Industri Tbk (IMPC) by 3.40 points.

Meanwhile, a number of stocks recorded positive contributions with
limited weight. PT Maha Properti Indonesia Tbk (MPRO) was the biggest
support at 1.91 points. Next were PT Mora Telematika Indonesia Tbk
(MORA) at 1.56 points, PT Telkom Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (TLKM) at 1.04
points, and PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (BBNI) at 0.75
points.

From a sectoral perspective, not all major sectors recorded on the
IDX moved in the red zone. The property sector rose 0.24% and technology
0.08%.

On the other hand, raw materials became the sector with the deepest
decline, namely 3.18%. Next, utilities fell 2.62%, energy weakened
1.28%, non-primary consumer goods fell 1.12%, and industry corrected
1.01%. The financial sector also weakened 0.74%, while the health sector
fell 0.33%.

The IHSG pressure came after MSCI announced the results of its August
review. In that decision, no Indonesian stocks were added to the MSCI
Global Standard Indexes.

Conversely, GOTO was removed from the MSCI Indonesia Investable
Market Index, while CPIN was downgraded from Global Standard to Global
Small Cap. Nine other stocks were also removed from the MSCI Global
Small Cap Indexes.

However, these changes only become effective after the close of
trading on 31 August 2026. This means that today’s trading pressure
cannot yet be fully described as the impact of actual rebalancing fund
flows, but the market has begun to respond to MSCI’s decision and
anticipate portfolio adjustments towards the effective date.

Meanwhile, foreign selling pressure was very heavy in the first
session of today’s trading. Based on Stockbit Sekuritas data for the
first trading session, foreign investors recorded foreign buy of Rp1.78
trillion, while foreign sell reached Rp2.96 trillion. Thus, foreigners
booked a net sell of Rp1.18 trillion.
",
