        "content": "<p>Jayapura back to six-day public service<\/p>\n<p>JAYAPURA, Irian Jaya: As of Jan. 1, 2001, the Jayapura<br>\nmunicipal administration returned to a six-day work week to<br>\nimprove its service to the public.<\/p>\n<p>Jayapura Mayor M.R. Kambu said the decision was made after<br>\nfinding a slight fall in the quality of public service over the<br>\nlast three years.<\/p>\n<p>\"The former five-day work week is not effective because the<br>\nproductivity of the city administration's employees could not be<br>\nmaintained,\" he said.<\/p>\n<p>\"The five-days of work were not effective because most<br>\nemployees used Fridays for sports and then went home,\" he added<br>\nhere Friday. \"The effective days were only Monday through<br>\nThursday.\"<\/p>\n<p>He warned that he would take strict action against employees<br>\ncaught violating the new policy.<\/p>\n<p>According to Antara's monitoring, many employees have yet to<br>\ngo back to their work place because of the recent Christmas and<br>\nNew year celebrations. --Antara<\/p>",
