        "content": "<p>'Jawa Pos' journalists intimidated<\/p>\n<p>SURABAYA (JP): About 80 members of the government-sponsored<br>\nNational Discipline Campaign was still occupying the foyer of the<br>\nJawa Pos editorial office yesterday to protest \"biased reporting\"<br>\nof this week's labor strike.<\/p>\n<p>The group, which has been occupying the foyer since Thursday,<br>\nvowed to stay on until reporter Sholihuddin and chief editor<br>\nSolichin Hidayat were presented to them.<\/p>\n<p>The daily's report on Thursday alleged that the discipline<br>\ncampaigners had been paid by a certain institution to hold a<br>\ncounter demonstration to the earlier student-led labor strike.<\/p>\n<p>The labor protests held on Monday and Tuesday were met with a<br>\nharsh response from the military. More than two dozen students<br>\nwere injured and detained.<\/p>\n<p>The discipline campaigners object to the Jawa Pos's photograph<br>\nof tanks as a military show of force in the run-up to next year's<br>\nelection. The picture was run side by side with a photo of the<br>\npro-democracy demonstration.<\/p>\n<p>They demanded that Jawa Pos withdraw all of the estimated<br>\n300,000 copies that it had distributed throughout Indonesia on<br>\nThursday.<\/p>\n<p>Solichin said he regretted the campaigners' means of settling<br>\nthe problem. He asked them to write their version of the event<br>\nand said that the daily would be glad to publish it.<\/p>\n<p>More than 50 employees at the newspaper did not leave the<br>\noffice on Thursday for security reasons.
