        "content": "<p>Java Sea, world&apos;s biggest trash dump<\/p>\n<p>BOGOR, West Java: The Java Sea would soon become a giant<br>\ngarbage dump unless the government got serious about improving<br>\nits waste management, an expert said on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>Head of the Maritime and Coastal Resources Studies Tridoyo<br>\nKusumastanto suggested that both individual and industrial<br>\ndumpers should learn from scavengers who take solid waste out<br>\ninstead of dumping it into rivers, canals and the sea.<\/p>\n<p>There have not been any studies to assess the amount of waste<br>\npolluting the Java sea, but Tridoyo estimated the figure to be<br>\nsome 40 tons per day.<\/p>\n<p>He said it would take time to change the culture here of<br>\nthrowing garbage into waterways and other common areas, but the<br>\ncampaign against river and sea pollution should be pushed.<\/p>\n<p>Although the sea can naturally process some waste, its<br>\ncapability did have limits, Tridoyo warned. -- JP<\/p>",
