Fourteen trucks of roof tiles produced in Jatiwangi, Majalengka
Regency, have been transported to Jakarta. The shipment is part of a
tile-isation programme as part of President Prabowo Subianto’s policy to
encourage the use of UMKM products in people’s housing development.

The 14 trucks of tiles were dispatched by the Minister of Housing and
Spatial Planning, Maruarar Sirait, from the Jatiwangi tile production
centre on Wednesday evening (11 March). The total tile orders announced
during the event reached 24 trucks from various government programmes
and housing developers. The total transaction commitment was
approximately 3 billion rupiah from Central Government, Provincial, and
District Government programmes.

“The tile-isation programme is an implementation of President Prabowo
Subianto’s directive that people’s housing development should not only
focus on physical house construction, but also provide economic benefits
for communities and UMKM actors,” said Maruarar.

Since the programme is part of national housing development, Maruarar
also asked Jatiwangi tile-producing UMKMs to maintain product quality to
be able to compete in a wider market. He also encouraged all
tile-producing UMKMs throughout the region to contribute to the
government programme. “UMKMs must have high competitiveness by
maintaining quality and meeting Indonesian National Standards
(SNI).”

Meanwhile, West Java Provincial Secretary, Herman Suryatman, stated
that in the initial phase this year, the West Java Provincial Government
has allocated a house improvement programme for 250 units. “For the
first phase this year, there are 250 housing units that will be
improved. With tile requirements of approximately 2 million rupiah per
house, the potential tile procurement reaches around 500 million
rupiah,” he explained.

The Majalengka Regency Government also allocated a programme to
improve uninhabitable houses estimated to absorb tiles from local
entrepreneurs. According to Majalengka Regent, Eman Suherman, “In 2026,
we will implement an uninhabitable house improvement programme for 1,715
units and tile procurement is estimated to reach approximately 1.5
billion rupiah.”

Additionally, through the central government’s Self-Help Housing
Stimulus Assistance (BSPS) programme, an estimated 900 houses in
Majalengka Regency will be improved with potential tile requirements
reaching approximately 1 billion rupiah.

Overall, total tile purchase commitments from various programmes
reached approximately 3 billion rupiah, all directed towards absorbing
UMKM tile products in Jatiwangi.

Support for the programme also came from the private sector. Two
subsidised housing developers, Angga and Wawan, who gained recognition
from President Prabowo Subianto, also placed orders for tiles from
Jatiwangi UMKMs. Each entrepreneur ordered four trucks for housing
projects they are developing in Bogor and Serang.

One tile business operator in Jatiwangi, Riswan, revealed that the
government programme has provided renewed spirit to craftspeople who
faced difficult times in recent years. According to him, government
support has revived the tile industry in Jatiwangi and opened up wider
market opportunities. He hopes the programme will continue so that
Jatiwangi tile products can be marketed not only in the local area but
throughout Indonesia.
",
