Jasa Raharja has reported a 2% decrease in road accidents during the 2026 Eid al-Fitr alert period from 13 to 22 March, with 2,119 incidents compared to 2,179 the previous year, alongside a significant 28% drop in fatalities to 190. This positive trend is attributed to improved traffic management by Korlantas Polri, the government's work-from-anywhere policy, enhanced infrastructure readiness, and intensified safety campaigns by various stakeholders. The state-owned insurer highlights the role of collective efforts in promoting safer transport modes and has disbursed Rp 9.5 billion in compensation to victims, underscoring the state's commitment to public safety and swift claim processing.

Jasa Raharja has recorded a decline in road accident numbers during
the 2026 Eid al-Fitr Alert period, which took place from 13 to 22 March
2026. This data indicates a positive trend in efforts to enhance
transportation safety, particularly during the homecoming and return
flow periods.

Based on data compiled with Korlantas Polri, the number of road
accidents during that period was recorded at 2,119 incidents, down
approximately 2% from the same period in the 2025 Eid al-Fitr Alert,
which reached 2,179 incidents.

In terms of victims, the total number of accident victims during the
2026 Eid al-Fitr Alert period was recorded at 3,597 people, also
experiencing a 2% decline compared to the previous year, which reached
3,684 people.

A significant decline was seen in the number of fatalities, recorded
at 190 people, down 28% from the previous year’s 266 people. Meanwhile,
the number of injured victims was recorded at 3,407 people, relatively
stable with a slight 0.3% decrease.

Jasa Raharja’s President Director, Muhammad Awaluddin, stated that
the decline in road accidents during the 2026 Eid al-Fitr period is the
result of a combination of several key factors.

“First, the strengthening of traffic engineering management carried
out by Korlantas Polri, including more distributed homecoming flow
arrangements. The work-from-anywhere policy announced by the government
well in advance also had a significant impact in helping to even out
this year’s homecoming flow,” said Awaluddin in a written statement on
Tuesday (24/3/2026).

Second, there was an increase in infrastructure readiness, both toll
roads and arterial roads, as well as supporting facilities such as rest
areas and Integrated Service Posts, which helped reduce driver fatigue
during homecoming trips.

He said that third, the intensification of transportation safety
campaigns carried out by the Ministry of Transportation, Korlantas
Polri, and all stakeholders, including Jasa Raharja, contributed to
this.

“In addition, we also see an increase in public awareness to drive
more orderly and cautiously,” Awaluddin explained.

To date, road accidents are still dominated by two-wheeled vehicles
(R2), generally caused by fatigue due to insufficient rest time, as well
as low compliance in maintaining safe distances. This condition is a
serious concern due to the high fatality risk it poses.

“Therefore, BUMN and Danantara, together with 96 BUMNs including Jasa
Raharja, continue to push for a reduction in R2 accident numbers through
various preventive efforts, one of which is by diverting to safer public
transportation modes through the Free Homecoming programme,” he
clarified.

He hopes that in the future, the public will become increasingly
aware of prioritising safety by choosing safer modes of transportation
and remaining disciplined in driving.

More than just numerical achievements, every reduction in fatalities
reflects the presence of the state in protecting its citizens. Jasa
Raharja believes that safety is a shared responsibility, and every life
saved is a tangible manifestation of humane, responsive, and sustainable
service.

He stated that this is further strengthened through the
implementation of Zero Pending Claims, as an effort to ensure that every
compensation right for accident victims can be settled quickly,
accurately, and without delay. Up to 22 March, Jasa Raharja has
disbursed compensation amounting to Rp 9.5 billion to 190 victims/heirs,
as a tangible manifestation of the state’s presence when it is most
needed.

“This spirit aligns with the commitment to deliver Comfortable
Homecoming Together and Comfortable Eid Together, as efforts to provide
journeys that are not only safe but also give a sense of security and
peace to the entire community,” he concluded.
",
