The Indonesian government, alongside Jasa Marga, is encouraging Eid returnees to reschedule their journeys to avoid severe congestion during the peak return period on 28-29 March 2026, by offering a 30% toll discount on 26-27 March. This incentive aims to disperse traffic, following a record 270,000 vehicles during the outbound journey on 18 March. Officials including the Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture, the National Police Chief, and the Transport Minister have inspected preparations and emphasised safety measures, real-time traffic monitoring, and compliance with operational restrictions for goods vehicles.

The government, together with Jasa Marga, urges returnees to
rearrange their return schedules to avoid severe congestion at the peak
of the Eid return flow in 2026. Safety remains the priority; do not force
yourself if tired and rest immediately at a rest area,” stressed the
National Police Chief (H-3).

Jasa Marga predicts the peak return flow on 29 March will reach
250,000 vehicles. Returnees are urged to return earlier to enjoy the 30%
toll discount.

The peak Eid return flow in 2026 is predicted for 28-29 March.
