Jasa Marga needs improving<\/p>\n

Despite its nearly completed widening, the Jakarta-Bekasi toll
\nroad has not improved its service to road users significantly.<\/p>\n
The problem is that PT Jasa Marga, the agency managing toll
\nroads which cooperates with private companies, is apparently
\nunable to determine a schedule for trucks and trailers using the
\ntoll road. Road users have the impression that the congestion of
\nthe Jakarta-Bekasi toll road are caused by the high number of
\nheavy vehicles mixing with private cars and city buses during the
\nmorning and evening peak hours.<\/p>\n
If only Jasa Marga was willing to take pertinent action, e.g.
\napproaching the related agencies (Communications Department and
\nthe Traffic Directorate of the Jakarta Police) to jointly lay
\ndown a schedule for trucks and trailers! Jasa Marga should not
\nconfine itself to collecting toll money; it should work out an
\neffective program that would benefit road users too.<\/p>\n
The Jasa Marga board should also consider the education of its
\npersonnel to become investigators and authorize them to take
\nsteps against violators.<\/p>\n
Motorists often use the shoulder of the toll road without any
\nsign of guilt. Jasa Marga's rapid reaction patrol does not have
\nenough personnel to deal with lawbreakers.<\/p>\n
The sooner Jasa Marga improves the quality of its personnel,
\nthe sooner it will improve its image in the community.<\/p>\n
