We thank you for the letter from Bertho Darmo PA published in
\nthis newspaper of Oct. 3, 2000 about the traffic congestion at
\nthe Taman Mini toll gate and would like to clarify the following:<\/p>\n
Just like any other company in general, the earnings of PT
\nJasa Marga (Persero) are, in principle, spent in the interest of
\nstakeholders, namely customers, shareholders and employees, in a
\nbalanced way to ensure that the company is always financially
\nsound.<\/p>\n
For over eight years PT Jasa Marga has not raised the toll
\ntariffs while over this period toll road operational costs have
\nrisen. Understandably the company has to shoulder a very heavy
\nburden and the result is that the company cannot give the best to
\nits customers, shareholders and employees.<\/p>\n
About the traffic congestion at the Taman Mini toll gate, PT
\nJasa Marga has taken the following measures:
\n1. A technical plan is being prepared to widen the Taman Mini-
\nCawang toll road section with another 2 x 1 lane and to move the
\nTaman Mini crosswise toll gate to Cibubur. The work is scheduled
\nto be completed in 2001.
\n2. Some of the city buses passing this section of the toll road,
\nviolate the permitted route. Therefore, cooperation will be
\nestablished with the Traffic and Road Transportation Service
\n(DLLAJ) to ensure that no such violation will be made in future.
\n3. If the project to construct the Jakarta Outer Ring Toll Road
\n(JORR) is resumed and it becomes operational, the traffic load at
\nthe Taman Mini-Cawang toll road will be lessened.<\/p>\n
